Privacy notice

quiz.seshatacademy.com · last updated 7 October 2026

In short

  • Students in a class never give an email address. No student gives a phone number, home address, date of birth or photo. A student with their own account gives an email address only to receive sign-in codes.
  • We keep only what a teacher needs to help a student revise: a first name, a class and quiz results.
  • No advertising, no tracking or analytics tools, and we never sell or share data for marketing.
  • A teacher can delete a student, with all of their results, at any time.

Who we are

This site is run by SESHAT Academy. SESHAT is independent: it is not part of, or endorsed by, Cambridge University Press & Assessment.

What we keep and why

WhoWhat we keepWhy
Student with a class sign-inFirst name (or first name and initial), class, a 4-digit PIN kept only in scrambled form, the date last signed in, quiz and mock results (score, answers, time taken) and the “My review” word list.So the student can sign in on any device, and the teacher can see progress and plan revision.
Student with a personal codeThe same as above, the personal code kept only in scrambled form, and the date a parent or guardian agreed to this notice. As above, for a student who studies without a class.
Independent student (own account, no school or teacher)Email address (used only to send a 6-digit sign-in code), first name, results, “My review” list, and who agreed to this notice (the student, aged 16 or over, or a parent or guardian) and when.So the student can sign in with no password and keep their progress.
Parent or guardianNothing about the parent: the parent code is kept only in scrambled form.So a parent can see a child’s results and revision progress.
Student without a sign-inThe name and class typed before a quiz or mock, and the result with its answers. So the result reaches the teacher.
TeacherName, school (if any), classes, the date last signed in, sign-in code kept only in scrambled form.To run classes and licences.
SchoolSchool name and licence details (topics, number of places, end date). To run the licence.
SESHAT staffEmail address, used only to send a sign-in code.To protect the SESHAT console.

Who can see it

  • The student sees their own results and their “My review” list.
  • The teacher sees the students and results of their own classes only.
  • A parent or guardian with the parent code sees that child’s results and revision progress, and can change nothing. The code is made by the teacher or by the student, and making a new one, or switching it off, ends the old one.
  • A school sees its teachers and how many classes and students each has, not the students’ names or results.
  • SESHAT staff can see all of it, only to run the service and to correct errors.

Children

Most students are under 18. A teacher may add students only when their school, or the students’ parents or guardians, have agreed; the teacher confirms this each time they add names. A student with a personal code can sign in for the first time only after a parent or guardian has read this notice and agreed. A student who makes their own account agrees themselves only if they are 16 or older; otherwise a parent or guardian agrees when the account is made.

Where it is kept

  • Accounts and results are kept in our database service, Convex, on servers in the European Union (Ireland).
  • The website is hosted by Macaly, which also sends the sign-in code emails. Like any website host, it may keep short technical records (such as IP addresses) to run and protect the site; SESHAT does not use them to identify students.
  • Fonts, pictures and narration are served from this site and our database service, not from other companies.
  • Our host adds a small script of its own to each page; we have switched off its visit counting.

On this device

The browser remembers your sign-in, your “My review” list (if you are not signed in, it stays only on this device) and your sound and guide settings. These are not advertising cookies. Signing out removes the sign-in; clearing this site’s data in the browser removes everything.

How long we keep it

We keep it while the school, teacher or licence uses SESHAT. A teacher can remove a student, or a whole class, at any time, either keeping the results on their dashboard or deleting them too. A student with their own account can delete it, with everything kept with it, from the sign-in page. When a school or teacher stops using SESHAT, they can ask us to delete their classes and results.

Your choices

A student, or a parent or guardian, can ask to see, correct or delete the student’s data. The quickest way is to ask the teacher, who can do it at once; a student with their own account can delete it themselves. You can also contact SESHAT through your teacher or school.

Changes

If what we keep changes, we update this notice and the date at the top before the change.
